Apprehension by zwoman Apprehension by zwoman
This is my second soldier portrait, inspired by Corporal Sidney Phillips, played by Ashton Holmes in the 2010 HBO mini-series "The Pacific". Done with 2b, Hb Faber-Castell drawing pencils, and mechanical pencil on Canson paper in around 15 hours. I also blended less to make the image appear grittier. :D

I have tingling at the back of my head looking at this. I think what causes it is the texture on his face.

Amazing work.

Great work my dear, I think is a beautiful representation of the grit and sense of mental detachment that those soldiers faced in combat. The ones that survived must have always wondered why they did when the ones next to them fell constantly all around them. Your picture shows an innocence, and lost soul at the same time. I applaud this, you have done a great job here.

Thanks so much, Warren. I will always have an utmost respect for the soldiers of the war. We will never have a total picture of what they went through before and after the nightmare, and I think we should not forget what they fought for.

Zalvia it's my pleasure to fav and comment on such great work. I was so pleased you watched and enjoyed the series and seeing your drawings of the characters is amazing and great reminder how good it was. I sure do agree that we should never forget the courage and sacrifices that were made in the name of freedom and justice. Great work again.
